MUTCD RS-086.svg Deletion requests
A subpage for the AARoads project

Please add {{RFD}} to the top of a page that has been nominated here. If it is a template, be sure to add noinclude tags.

Discussions will generally last 14 days. Discussions with very clear consensus may be closed after 7 days. However, a SNOW close should not be done unilaterally and should be rare.

Should no option earn an absolute majority after 14 days, the discussion will be relisted in the form of an approval poll of all options that received at least one vote in the discussion. The option with a plurality of votes in the approval poll after 14 days will prevail. Should no option earn a plurality of votes in the approval poll, the discussion will be closed as "no consensus", which defaults to the page being kept.

Admins: when closing a request, be sure to remove {{RFD}} in the event the page is kept. It is permissible to close a discussion you have voted in, though caution should be exercised in contentious cases.

The following cases do not warrant a deletion request and can be speedy deleted by an administrator without discussion:

  • Spam
  • Vandalism
  • Clear copyright violations
  • Blatant hoaxes
  • Attack pages
  • Test pages
  • Reposting of previously deleted material
  • Pages that are obviously not related to roads
  • Any pages in your own userspace

Administrators may also perform routine maintenance deletions (for example: unused template subpages, orphaned talk pages, and duplicate articles) without discussion.

List of state highways in Chautauqua County, New York

In the past we have preferred categories rather than lists like these, since they are more work and lead to content forking. --Rschen7754 13:13, 4 May 2024 (EDT)

  • Delete - Categories better handle the need. Dough4872 13:57, 4 May 2024 (EDT)
  • It would appear that this list is the primary coverage of the reference routes discussed in it, so that content will need to be rehomed. I suggest restructuring the article into a List of reference routes in Chautauqua County, New York listicle and discarding the rest, though if anyone more familiar with NY has a structure that would work better for the particulars of the route, I'm all ears. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 16:36, 4 May 2024 (EDT)
    • There is also List of reference routes in New York. I personally didn't find the text descriptions here much more enlightening. (There are also articles that need to be restructured like List of highways in Hamilton County, New York, but that can be handled elsewhere). --Rschen7754 16:44, 4 May 2024 (EDT)
      • Perhaps not now, but I see no harm in providing the structure to encourage people to expand that content in the future. I view it much like the Texas FM lists (most of which don't contain much more than what you'd find in a table, but from time to time someone takes a special interest in one and fleshes out its section). Retargeting the redirects to the statewide list would be my second choice solution. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 16:56, 4 May 2024 (EDT)

Roman roads in the Nord department

I believe we decided Roman roads were out of scope; this one comprises (at least) two departmental routes in France. There doesn't seem to be anything useful for the two DRs mentioned, so we should just start fresh. –Fredddie 00:46, 5 July 2024 (EDT)

  • Keep and repurpose, just because this is all that we have for those two routes. --Rschen7754 01:52, 5 July 2024 (EDT)
  • Split the departmental routes into separate articles. However, we would need to keep this page for attribution for those routes, probably have to redirect to one of them. Dough4872 09:44, 5 July 2024 (EDT)

No real content, just a broken exist list. --Rschen7754 00:48, 23 October 2024 (EDT)

Great Victorian Way

@Si404: nominated this with the rationale of being pre-car. I agree but think this should be put to a vote. --Rschen7754 12:07, 28 November 2024 (EST)

I vote yes (obviously). I love the article, it's great and interesting, but it opens a can of worms re:scope - if we have this unbuilt scheme (that was just as much about shopping precints and railways) then we'd have to have stuff like the Pony Express and Mormon Emigrant Trails (and not just the National Historic Trail Auto Tours) that were actual things of similar vintage. • Delete - Not in scope. Dough4872 14:55, 28 November 2024 (EST)

Interstate 86 (Connecticut–Rhode Island)

I accidentally made this redirect. I was thinking about I-84's proposed path from Connecticut to Rhode Island. NewGirl4U (Morriswa on Wikipedia) 16:46, 3 December 2024 (EST)

A282 (Great Britain)

This was marked for speedy deletion so that Dartford Crossing could be moved to this page. I think User:Si404 had requested it. Markkos1992 (talk) 18:13, 8 December 2024 (EST)

Virginia State Route 706 (1924-1928)

Incorrect dab page. I have corrected it to Virginia State Route 706 (1928-1933). On a related note, there are probably quite a few accidental dabs I have created that could be deleted in regard to List of primary state highways in Virginia that someone may want to check on at some point.
