ω, or the WikiWork factor, is a metric for assessing the current status of articles. ω is the number of classes a WikiProject is away from having all articles be featured. The formula for obtaining ω is:

ω = b + 2c + 3d + 4e

where b is B-class articles, c is C-class articles, d is D-class articles, and e is E-class articles.

Relative wikiwork, or Ω, is the average wikiwork level of all articles in the project (currently 24,102). The formula for obtaining Ω is:

Ω = ω/{number of articles}

Current metrics

ω = 34,199

Ω = 2.900

Understanding the metrics

WikiWork average scale
Rating Ω
0.000–0.999 A
1.000–1.999 B
2.000–2.999 C
3.000–3.999 D
4.000 E

The Ω calculated above represents the average rating of all assessed articles here on the AARoads Wiki. It is a scale from 0 to 4 that represents how many steps all of the assessed articles must take to reach A-Class status; think of it like an inverted grade point average. Points are assigned by the assessment classification: A-Class is the goal so these articles are given 0 points, B-Class is one step away from A-Class so they receive 1 point, 2 points for C-Class, 3 points for D-Class, and 4 points for E-Class. This total is ω, which is the actual number of steps needed for every assessed article to reach A-Class. ω is divided by the number of assessed articles to get Ω.

Computing the metrics

These metrics are computed by hand using a spreadsheet made in KSpread 1.6.3. One can compute the statistics themselves very easily using the equations above, or you can use this form to get the statistics. However, when manually computing the metrics, be sure to include As in the total number of articles, even though they count zero in the total stats.
