MUTCD RS-086.svg Deletion requests
A subpage for the AARoads project

Please add {{RFD}} to the top of a page that has been nominated here. If it is a template, be sure to add noinclude tags.

Discussions will generally last 14 days. Discussions with very clear consensus may be closed after 7 days. However, a SNOW close should not be done unilaterally and should be rare.

Should no option earn an absolute majority after 14 days, the discussion will be relisted in the form of an approval poll of all options that received at least one vote in the discussion. The option with a plurality of votes in the approval poll after 14 days will prevail. Should no option earn a plurality of votes in the approval poll, the discussion will be closed as "no consensus", which defaults to the page being kept.

Admins: when closing a request, be sure to remove {{RFD}} in the event the page is kept. It is permissible to close a discussion you have voted in, though caution should be exercised in contentious cases.

The following cases do not warrant a deletion request and can be speedy deleted by an administrator without discussion:

  • Spam
  • Vandalism
  • Clear copyright violations
  • Blatant hoaxes
  • Attack pages
  • Test pages
  • Reposting of previously deleted material
  • Pages that are obviously not related to roads
  • Any pages in your own userspace

Administrators may also perform routine maintenance deletions (for example: unused template subpages, orphaned talk pages, and duplicate articles) without discussion.

List of Suffolk County, New York road proposals

This would be better addressed on pages like List of county routes in Suffolk County, New York (1–25). --Rschen7754 13:04, 4 May 2024 (EDT)

  • Delete - Details are better covered in the individual routes in the RCS lists. Dough4872 13:57, 4 May 2024 (EDT)

List of state highways in Chautauqua County, New York

In the past we have preferred categories rather than lists like these, since they are more work and lead to content forking. --Rschen7754 13:13, 4 May 2024 (EDT)

  • Delete - Categories better handle the need. Dough4872 13:57, 4 May 2024 (EDT)
  • It would appear that this list is the primary coverage of the reference routes discussed in it, so that content will need to be rehomed. I suggest restructuring the article into a List of reference routes in Chautauqua County, New York listicle and discarding the rest, though if anyone more familiar with NY has a structure that would work better for the particulars of the route, I'm all ears. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 16:36, 4 May 2024 (EDT)
    • There is also List of reference routes in New York. I personally didn't find the text descriptions here much more enlightening. (There are also articles that need to be restructured like List of highways in Hamilton County, New York, but that can be handled elsewhere). --Rschen7754 16:44, 4 May 2024 (EDT)
      • Perhaps not now, but I see no harm in providing the structure to encourage people to expand that content in the future. I view it much like the Texas FM lists (most of which don't contain much more than what you'd find in a table, but from time to time someone takes a special interest in one and fleshes out its section). Retargeting the redirects to the statewide list would be my second choice solution. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 16:56, 4 May 2024 (EDT)

List of highways in Genesee County, New York

In the past we have preferred categories rather than lists like these, since they are more work and lead to content forking. --Rschen7754 13:14, 4 May 2024 (EDT)

  • Delete - Categories better handle the need. Dough4872 13:57, 4 May 2024 (EDT)
  • Delete per the single point of truth rule; duplicative content (though before deletion we should verify that there isn't a scrap of history here or there in the article that somehow didn't make it to the main articles). —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 16:58, 4 May 2024 (EDT)
  • Comment I have no strong opinion if this is better handled by a category or a list page. But no need for both, so pick one or the other.Dave (talk) 01:30, 5 May 2024 (EDT)

Template:Interstates

Same reasoning as the Canadian navboxes, something that could be better done with categories, and wouldn't clog Special:WhatLinksHere. It was also discussed on Discord. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 06:33, 6 May 2024 (EDT)

I suggested nominating this one, so I'll chime in. Liliana hit the main points I agree with. That being said, I think there is some value in keeping the non-route articles in the navbox, though I'm not sure what. I definitely think the routes should be removed. –Fredddie 09:50, 6 May 2024 (EDT)
  • I would be fine with either deleting this template in favor of categories or else reformat the template to remove the individual routes and keep the rest, which could be useful. Dough4872 19:51, 6 May 2024 (EDT)

Template:Three-digit Interstate navbox and related boxes in Category:Interstate highway templates

Similarly to Template:Interstates above, something that could be better done with categories and wouldn't clog Special:WhatLinksHere. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 06:35, 6 May 2024 (EDT)

  • Delete - While I see the usefulness of these templates, the trend on here seems to favor categories over navboxes. Dough4872 19:53, 6 May 2024 (EDT)
  • Reluctant delete, while I do like the templates, they were deleted for many systems with only 1 auxiliary, thus limiting the consistency. --Rschen7754 14:50, 7 May 2024 (EDT)
