• I don't agree with the list of toll roads rationale, however I have to say Delete because there is no objective criteria of what a ring road is, especially in the US. • Highway shield and route number could be merged. Keeping them separate on WP makes some sense because a lot of countries don't use shield designs to indicate route numbers, but AA is mostly US-centric even if we were to have international coverage. Ran4sh (talk) 23:02, 11 November 2023 (EST)
• My thoughts on what to do about the five articles:
  • Keep Highway systems by country, and redirect List of roads and highways there. They're trying to do the same thing, and the former is doing a better job of it.
  • Reduce Road hierarchy to just the content in the "General classification" section. It helps to have a general overview of types of highways, but the country-specific stuff is rehashing Highway systems by country.
  • Merge Route number into Highway shield. Both articles are about the same general concept of numbering and marking highways, and there's very little useful content in Route number that isn't better suited somewhere else. There was some discussion on Discord about deleting Canadian navboxes that link to every route, but I wanted to formalize it here. Essentially, categories do a better job of linking groups of routes together than navboxes do and they don't clog up each page's Special:WhatLinksHere. • {{Roads in Canada}} and {{Roads in Ontario}} just include a bolded link to the articles of the same names. Nothing else. Not entirely sure about the point of either template.
• {{Ontario Numbered Roads}} serves a purpose more similar to the {{County roads in Florida}} template Liliana mentioned above. It's not the same as a raw list of routes and probably warrants a separate discussion.

Geography of toll roads

This has been tied at 3-3 delete/rename for a month so I'll be the deciding vote here. I've renamed the article Toll roads by country. Yes, the article is bloated and questionably written, but I see value in having the information exist here under the assumption that it will be cleaned up eventually (likely if and when our scope expands to include more countries). Mexican Federal Highway 18

I don't think this highway exists. The only source is to a general Mexican highway map that doesn't seem to include a Highway 18 (I couldn't find it, at least, and there's no section number in the citation). The article itself doesn't have any information about which cities or states the highway serves. I couldn't find any other evidence that this exists; Google Maps does appear to mark a road in Baja California Sur as Federal Highway 18, but it's unpaved and isn't signed in Street View, so I don't think that's actually a federal highway. No information on where it is, it doesn't seem to be on the map cited, it's not listed in our sources for Mexico, and I can't find any other sources to verify it exists. I suggested nominating this one, so I'll chime in. Liliana hit the main points I agree with. That being said, I think there is some value in keeping the non-route articles in the navbox, though I'm not sure what. I definitely think the routes should be removed. –Fredddie™ 09:50, 6 May 2024 (EDT)
