Welcome to the AARoads Wiki!

This wiki is a specialist encyclopedia of roads articles written by your fellow roadgeeks, and we're glad you've decided to join us!

Now that you're here, we have a few important things to tell you about. Our main discussion page is The Interchange. This is where we make decisions about how this wiki functions. We have a Discord as well that you might want to join.

We have a cleanup page where you can learn more how we're improving the collection of imported articles for our use. You can also report technical errors related to the article import process on that page.

The rules of the road are really simple. In short, follow the golden rule and you'll be fine; we wouldn't want you to be cited for a moving violation. While contributing, please keep in mind that we currently focus our articles on highways in the United States and Canada, including state or provincial highways and major county roads. (To express interest in adding other countries, see AARoads:International). We have the Annex here for additional content, like the list of longest state highways in the United States.

Once again, welcome to the AARoads Wiki! We hope you enjoy it here! Rschen7754 20:26, 31 October 2023 (EDT)

Revert on AARoads:The Interchange

I removed your post on post on The Interchange simply because it's for a discussion on Wikipedia. We forked from there for a reason and honestly, a significant percentage of us do not care what happens there now. I'm not going to threaten a block or anything, but I encourage you to read the room before making a post like that again. –Fredddie 17:24, 3 November 2023 (EDT)

I replied to the enwiki copy of your post. Frankly it's not a bad idea and is worth proposing here as well. However, to Fredddie's point, there's some hard feelings between the two projects. As a reminder, several members of AARW resigned as Wikipedia volunteers on the very day AARW went live. And several people in Wikipedia essentialy responded with "so long, don't let the door hit your butt on the way out." So especially until those wounds heal, it would be wise to not just treat the two projects as one and the same by just copy pasting verbiage from one to the others. We forked for a reason.Dave (talk) 19:49, 3 November 2023 (EDT)

@Moabdave: I've not been on here in a while, but thanks for letting me know. I personally don't see how the discussion didn't affect both platforms since the AA Roads articles are simply a fork of the Wikipedia articles, but what do I know? I'll just leave it alone. Interstate 42

Please refer to the AASHTO Spring 2024 meeting minutes for approval information. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 17:05, 6 August 2024 (EDT)

I presume the problem is not that the AASHTO Spring 2024 referenced literally one sentence after the 2023 one mentioned wasn't spotted, but that it's not a direct link because AASHTO have made it basically impossible to link to specific documents on their shiny new database of applications and meetings. Does this link work for you? If not put 2024 in the 'year' field on the left, you'll find all the documents from that meeting (and only that meeting until they put up the Fall meeting documents). The top one is the minutes showing it's approval, then the applications are in reverse alphabetical order - OK I-42 application is a few down, AR I-42 application is the 19th, and last, document. @Si404: Okay, I see it now. I couldn't find where to access it, so I appreciate the link. I'm sorry that I didn't realize that before. TheBNSFTracker (talk) 17:57, 6 August 2024 (EDT)
Did my link work? I didn't think it would! Si404 (talk) 19:08, 6 August 2024 (EDT)
@Si404: It did! Thank you! LOL! XD TheBNSFTracker (talk) 22:30, 6 August 2024 (EDT)
@Si404: For kicks and giggles, I just tried it again and, ironically, it didn't work. XD TheBNSFTracker (talk) 22:32, 6 August 2024 (EDT)
