Welcome to the AARoads Wiki!

This wiki is a specialist encyclopedia of roads articles written by your fellow roadgeeks, and we're glad you've decided to join us!

Now that you're here, we have a few important things to tell you about. Our main discussion page is The Interchange. This is where we make decisions about how this wiki functions. We have a Discord as well that you might want to join.

We have a cleanup page where you can learn more how we're improving the collection of imported articles for our use. You can also report technical errors related to the article import process on that page.

The rules of the road are really simple. In short, follow the golden rule and you'll be fine; we wouldn't want you to be cited for a moving violation. While contributing, please keep in mind that we currently focus our articles on highways in the United States and Canada, including state or provincial highways and major county roads. We have the Annex here for additional content, like the list of longest state highways in the United States.

Once again, welcome to the AARoads Wiki! We hope you enjoy it here! --Rschen7754 14:35, 13 September 2023 (EDT)

Hello, we do have a page where you can express interest for international roads at AARoads:International. --Rschen7754 21:50, 29 September 2023 (EDT)

Route shields on the map

Hi, thanks for expressing interest in South Africa coverage on this wiki. I'm involved in designing and implementing the interactive maps on this site, as part of the OpenStreetMap Americana project and its AARoads version. As a first step towards expanding this wiki to South Africa, would you be interested in helping us improve OSM Americana's support for the country, specifically its route shields? We're currently a bit stuck because we aren't sure how users would expect the shields to look. We'd welcome your feedback on one of these GitHub issues: [1][2] – Minh Nguyễn 💬 17:45, 29 October 2023 (EDT)

Hi. The designs for the "Provincial, Regional & Metropolitan Routes" in reference 2 are spot-on. I believe that the "National Route" designs should follow the same format of having the letter at the top and the number below it while being in a pentagon shape. I have lived in South Africa before & the design as I have described it in the previous sentence is how they normally appear there. Chils Kemptonian (talk) 18:45, 2 November 2023 (EDT)

Hello

Hi, I hope all is well. We are talking about fulfilling all the outstanding requests for import within the next few months, so South Africa will likely be soon, if you are still interested. --Rschen7754 17:44, 12 May 2024 (EDT)

Greetings. Yes, I am still interested in Roads in South Africa. Thanks. Chils Kemptonian (talk) 07:43, 13 May 2024 (EDT)
