Marine Fuel Tax Highways (MFTs) were initially created in the 1970s as a collaborative effort between the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.[1] They are a type of institutional route, and are all designated with numbers in the 900s. The routes are numbered based on the county they're located in. For example, AR 915 is located in Conway County, which is the 15th Arkansas county in alphabetical order, and AR 949 is located in Montgomery County, which is the 49th Arkansas county in alphabetical order. Some of these routes are signed, and some of them are unsigned.

Highway 902 (AR 902, Ark. 902, and Hwy. 902) is the designation for an institutional state highway in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The route is located in Ashley County and begins at AR 160 in Portland, and provides access to Wilson Lake south of Portland.[2][3] The route is about 2.9 miles (4.7 km) long and is currently signed.

Highway 915 (AR 915, Ark. 915, and Hwy. 915) is the designation for an institutional state highway in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The route consists of two sections, both of which are located in Conway County north of w:Morrilton, Arkansas.[4] The route provides direct access to Lake Overcup. AR 915-1 begins at AR 95 immediately north of AR 247 and provides access to the west end of the lake.[5] This section is about 0.2 miles (0.32 km) long. AR 915-2 begins at AR 9 at the unincorporated community of Overcup, and provides access to the eastern part of the lake. This section is about 0.9 miles (1.4 km) long.[6] The combined length of both sections is about 1.1 miles (1.8 km) long.

Highway 922 (AR 922, Ark. 922, and Hwy. 922) is the designation for an institutional state highway in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The route is located in far southeast Arkansas and begins at US 165 at the unincorporated community of Hudspeth, and provides access to Lake Wallace in southeastern Drew County.[9][10][11] The route itself is officially designated as AR 922, but is erroneously signed as AR 722-1A at its intersection at US 165. The route is about 2.9 miles (4.7 km) long.

The route was about 1.1 miles (1.8 km) long.

Highway 926 (AR 926, Ark. 926, and Hwy. 926) was the designation for an institutional state highway in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The route was located in Garland County, and began at US 270 near the unincorporated community of Royal, west of Hot Springs.[13] The route provided direct access to Brady Mountain Public Use Area in northwestern Garland County, and was also the main route through the unincorporated community of Bear. The route itself does not show up on ARDOT official maps, but is still signed along US 270. The route was about 6.2 miles (10.0 km) long.

The route is decommissioned and unsigned.

Highway 933 (AR 933, Ark. 933, and Hwy. 933) is the designation for an institutional state highway in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The route is located in North Arkansas, and is split into two sections, both of which provide access to the White River.[15][16] The first section designated as AR 933-1 is a boat ramp located along AR 5 at the unincorporated community of Allison, just north of AR 9 and AR 14 immediately after crossing w:Sylamore Creek.[17] AR 933-1 is only about 0.03 miles (0.048 km) long, and is the shortest signed highway in the state. The second section designated as AR 933-2 is located immediately across the White River in neighboring Izard County, and provides access to the east side of the river.[18] This section of the route is about 0.4 miles (0.64 km) long.

Highway 949 (AR 949, Ark. 949, and Hwy. 949) is the designation for an institutional state highway in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The route consists of three sections, all of which are located in Montgomery County in the w:Ouachita Mountains, and all connect to US 270 and Lake Ouachita.[27] The first section, designated as AR 949-2 provides access to Denby Point Campground and is about 0.6 miles (0.97 km) long.[28] The second section, designated as AR 949-3 provides access to Tompkins Bend Campground and is about 2.1 miles (3.4 km) long.[29] The third and final section, designated as AR 949-4 provides access to Joplin Use Area, near the unincorporated community of Joplin and is about 1.9 miles (3.1 km) long.[30] All three sections are signed.

A previous fourth section, designated as AR 949-1 once provided access to Twin Creek Use Area, but has since been decommissioned and is no longer signed.[31]
