Argument for a separate Route O article.
After taking a closer look at Route O for its sub-article, I have realized how important it actually is. Given its regional importance, it could be argued that it should be spun off into its own article. It connects Union, Villa Ridge, and Pacific to the small towns and backroads of east central Franklin County, and subsequently JeffCo. It is considered important enough by MoDOT to have multiple mileage signs, in addition to junction signs at most intersections, a luxury that most supplemental routes do not have.
I feel like it should have an article, but I'm kind of on the fence. A second opinion would be appreciated. MrQuinnzard (talk) 10:38, 22 April 2024 (EDT)
- I'm fine with it if you make it its own article. It's long enough to be considered a significant route, and it serves as a (relatively) major connector. You can go ahead and write it if you wish. NocoRoads 11:01, 22 April 2024 (EDT)
- Done. MrQuinnzard (talk) 14:00, 22 April 2024 (EDT)
- How are you determining a route is regionally important? I'm looking at https://www.modot.org/traffic-volume-maps, I'm not really seeing how Route O is important. –Fredddie™ 14:55, 22 April 2024 (EDT)
- Geography and firsthand experience, mostly. Route O is the main east-west route of east central Franklin County, connecting multiple towns that would be totally isolated without it. It is the only way to get directly to Robertsville and Catawissa from Villa Ridge, Union, and (indirectly) Gray Summit. It also serves as a connector to Route NN, which goes to Hillsboro, and it indirectly connects to Route 30, which subsequently, can get you to Washington County, and serves as a bypass of I-44 into the St. Louis metro. Almost every trip I have taken to anywhere south of JeffCo has involved Route O, from Reynolds County all the way down to Pine Bluff, AR. In and of itself, it's not very important, but if you take into account its potential as a connector, it becomes clear that Route O is one of the most important routes in Franklin County. - Your concerns are valid, however, you will be pleased to hear I am not planning on spinning off any separate articles; in fact, you can move the contents of the article for Route MM to the listicle if you feel that it is appropriate to do so. The current focus on Franklin County is only temporary, as I am mostly doing this one county at a time. I will get to the rest of the state eventually. MrQuinnzard (talk) 10:52, 24 April 2024 (EDT)
Ordering of routes
It would be best for the two-letter routes to be alphabetically organized by first letter; not second letter. These routes are unrelated to the one-letter routes (i.e. Route AT isn't an auxiliary route of Route T). We could leave it if your opinion is different. NocoRoads 12:19, 10 May 2024 (EDT)
