Hi! My name is Quinn. I'm a roadgeek from the St. Louis area, and I joined in order to contribute my expansive knowledge of Missouri's state roads to the wiki. So if you see any articles on a random supplemental route in Missouri, that was probably me!
Any and all help is appreciated. If you've got any questions, make sure to shoot me a message!
FAQ
How did you become a roadgeek?
My grandparents have always kept a road atlas in the car. I have always lived within 30 miles of them, so I'd very often find myself in their car. When I was around 3 years old, having recently learned to read, I picked up the atlas, and I've been hooked ever since!
Why are you fixated on Missouri's lettered roads specifically?
For the majority of my life, I've lived on the semi-rural outskirts of the St. Louis metro. I'd always wonder - what are the letter roads for? Why are they here? Why are there so many of them? Later on, when I had access to the Internet, I'd look them up.
"Okay, so they're essentially just state-funded backroads. But how many are there? Where can I find a list?"
Much to my dismay, there was no list. Therefore, I have made it my mission to describe every Missouri supplemental route, starting with Franklin County. As I mentioned previously - any and all help is appreciated. You can find a list of acceptable sources on the Missouri roads project page.
How are you a roadgeek but have no driving license?
Parents don't have time to teach me how to drive. It is very annoying.
What is your favorite stretch of highway?
I-44 between Rolla and Gascozark. It's a breathtaking drive, especially in the fall. If you happen to be driving this route, I recommend getting off at Route D in Jerome, and stopping at the boat launch. Beautiful vista.
