Highway 132 (AR 132) is a former east–west state highway in Columbia County, Arkansas. The route began at Louisiana Highway 7 (LA 7) at the Louisiana state line and ran northeast to US Route 82 (US 82) in Magnolia. This route became part of US 371 in 1994.
Major intersections
The route began at LA 7 at the Louisiana state line near Springhill, LA. It curved to pass through the unincorporated community of Welcome before running due north, paralleling the Louisiana and Arkansas Railway tracks to the small town of Taylor. AR 132 turned and formed a brief concurrency with AR 160 through downtown Taylor before exiting the town northbound toward Bussey. AR 132 curved northeast through a rural area containing oil and gas fields, crossing Dorcheat Bayou, passing through the unincorporated community of Dodson, and serving as the eastern terminus of AR 344 before entering Magnolia. Shortly after entering Magnolia, AR 132 intersected US Route 82 (US 82, later US 82B, today US 371), where it terminated.[4]
History
The route was created in 1928,[1] first appearing on the September 1, 1928 state highway map.[2]
Initially referenced as the Bi-State Corridor, the Arkansas State Highway Commission designated AR 132 and several other highways as a proposed corridor to seek American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) approval as a new route in the United States Numbered Highway System in January 1994.[5] Upon receiving AASHTO approval in April 1994,[6] the route was officially decommissioned in favor of US 371 on August 24, 1994.[3]
Major intersections
The entire route was in Columbia County.
