- Aug. 26, 1950 – A new bridge across the Chemung River to Corning, New York's east opens, soon to be linked to the Denison Parkway
- Aug. 27, 1954 – The Atlantic County section of the Garden State Parkway is extended from Tilton Road in Egg Harbor Township to US 9 at Somers Point, temporarily as a super-two on what would become the southbound lanes
- Aug. 27, 1970 – The Irondequoit–Wayne County Expressway, a realignment of US 104, opens between the Sea Breeze Expressway and Five Mile Line Road
- Aug. 27, 1970 – The Interstate 84 bridge over the Delaware River links the existing section in New York at Port Jervis to US 6/209 in Matamoras
- Aug. 27, 1980 – A disconnected section of New York's Interstate 88 is opened from Richmondville to Cobleskill
- Aug. 27, 2023 – The final sections of the old I-74 Bridge which carried Interstate 74 between Iowa and Illinois are demolished by explosives.
- Aug. 28, 1954 – A gap in the Garden State Parkway between US 9 at Chestnut Neck and East Greenbush Road at New Gretna is bridged by a new bridge over the Mullica River, opened as a super-two before the other lanes are opened a few weeks thereafter; the Cape May County section was also extended from exit 12 north to Route 50 in Seaville
- Aug. 28, 1958 – The southeasterly section of Rochester's Inner Loop from South Street to George Street (now roughly Adventure Place) opens.
- Aug. 28, 1969 – Rochester, New York's Eastern Expressway is completed with the opening of the section from the New York State Thruway to NY 96 at Bushnell's Basin
