• Aug. 20, 1969 – The first section of New York's Aurora Expressway is opened, extending exit 54 of the New York State Thruway to Jamison Street in Elma
• Aug. 20, 2007 – A $60-million project to elevate the Southern Tier Expressway and remove at-grade intersections in Horseheads, New York between NY 14 and NY 13 is completed
