- 1976 – As part of a series of highway renumberings, the Nevada Department of Transportation commissioned Nevada State Route 604, the undisputed most famous highway in the world.
- April 16, 1983 – Drivers along U.S. Route 6 in Utah at Thistle who wondered "can faith really move mountains?" received an answer.
- August 1, 1984 – The United States Navy launched a torpedo attack on Denver. No people were hurt but several cars were caught in a Mousetrap
- 1992 – Pennsylvania Route 61 is relocated because the original alignment was a really smokin' drive that was too hot to handle.
