The Delta County Road System in Delta County, Michigan, encompasses all county roads maintained by the Delta County Road Commission (DCRC). As with all other counties in the state, the commission maintains all roadways within its jurisdiction that are not state trunkline highways nor city or village streets. These roadways are then divided into primary or local classifications under Public Act 51 of 1951.

Primary county roads are assigned a three-digit number in the 400s or 500s based on a grid at the state level. There is one exception to that numbering, County Road 186 (CR 186). Additionally, Federal Forest Highway 13 (FFH-13) has primary county road status. In total, there are 351.71 miles (566.02 km) of primary county roads in the county.

Local county roads are assigned an alphanumeric designation, and designations change when crossing township lines. The first letter of the designation for a segment of local county road corresponds to the township in which it is located, starting with A for Ford River Township and ending with O in Fairbanks Township. In total, there are 531.02 miles (854.59 km) for local county roads in the county.

Primary county roads

Primary county roads have a three-digit numerical designation. They may also have a road name for address purposes. Numbers are assigned in the 400s, or 500s plus 186. The roads are signed with the square marker M1-5a from the Michigan version of the Standard Highway Signs manual.[2]

Delta County has 14 townships and two cities, and a village. There are primary county roads located in each township. All primary county road designations end at the city lines.

Local county roads

The first letter of a local county road's designation corresponds to the township where it is located. Designations change when a road crosses a township line, and the letter "M" is skipped to avoid conflicts with the state trunkline highways that use that letter statewide. There are two designations with the letter P for park roads. The DCRC also inventories local streets and alleys in the village of Rapid River and the unincorporated communities of Nahma and Wells plus roads at the Delta County Airport as local county roads without alphanumeric designations.
