PI-107 is a departmental road located in the Province of Huancabamba, extreme east of the Piura Department that connects the town of Sapalache with the District of Carmen de la Frontera, near the international border with Ecuador.[1] According to statistics released by the Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communications in 2017, it is estimated that PI-107 measures approximately 67,697 km.[2]
THe PI-107 connects several agricultural zones and "caseríos" in the district with Salapache. In addition, this road has been affected by rainy seasons that have caused landslides temporarily blocking the road.[3] In March 2021, about 331,647.17 Peruvian soles were allocated to renovate part of the roads around Sapalache.[4]
Route
From Km 0 to 9, the road starts at an intersection with National Route PE-3N and connects the center of Sapalache and nearby towns. From Km 9 to 34, the road is considered "trocha carrozable" and connects the rural towns of Machena, Mabaspite and Habaspite. From Km 34 to 47, the road crosses areas near the Chicuate - Chinguelas Natural Reserve.

Historical Departamental Roads
PI-106
PI-106 was a departmental road that ran through part of the Tambogrande District in the Piura Province located at the center of the department. In February 2016, the General Directorate of Roads and Railways (Spanish: Dirección General de Caminos y Ferrocarriles) through Resolution No. 036-2016 MTC/01.02 decreed that this road would be considered from "Ruta Vecinal/Rural" to "Ruta Departamental/Regional" and was assigned the code PI-106, the reason for the reclassification was to increase the budget allocated to the road in order to improve the infrastructure.[7]
In June 2016, it was finally decided to change the status of Departmental Route PI-106 to a section of National Route PE-1N, commonly known as Panamericana Norte and Longitudinal de la Costa Norte, where the PI-106 section was assigned the code PE-1N U under resolution 388-2016 Mtc/01.02[8]
