There are four types of roads within the Guatemalan road system, including the Central American Routes (CA), which are part of the international road network of several countries in the region, the National Routes (RN), which are the primary roads in the country, the Departmental Routes (RD), which serve to internally connect the country's subdivisions; the Rural Routes and finally the CITO Routes, abbreviation of Carretera Inter-Troncal de Occidente'.[1]
