1937 renumbering to match North Carolina:
- South Carolina Highway 12 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 75 to match North Carolina Highway 75.
- South Carolina Highway 35 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 151 to match North Carolina Highway 151.
- South Carolina Highway 38 was realigned from Bennettsville following South Carolina Highway 9, then replacing South Carolina Highway 96 to match North Carolina Highway 38. The old route from Bennettsville to Gibson was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 79 (which was rerouted slightly in 1970 so that part is now South Carolina Highway 385)
- South Carolina Highway 41 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 94 (which was downgraded in 1947), and South Carolina Highway 41 was used on former South Carolina Highway 94 to match North Carolina Highway 41.
- South Carolina Highway 49 was used on former South Carolina Highway 163 to match North Carolina Highway 49.
- South Carolina Highway 58 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 274 to match North Carolina Highway 274.
- South Carolina Highway 68 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 83 to match North Carolina Highway 83, and South Carolina Highway 68 was used on former South Carolina Highway 79.
- South Carolina Highway 75 was used on former South Carolina Highway 12 to match North Carolina Highway 75.
- South Carolina Highway 77 was used on former South Carolina Highway 98 to match North Carolina Highway 77 (both sides renumbered to Highway 177 because of Interstate 77 in 1961).
- South Carolina Highway 79 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 68, and South Carolina Highway 79 was used on a former portion of South Carolina Highway 38.
- South Carolina Highway 83 was used on former South Carolina Highway 68 to match North Carolina Highway 83.
- South Carolina Highway 85 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 86, and South Carolina Highway 85 was used on former South Carolina Highway 95 to match North Carolina Highway 85 (both sides renumbered to Highway 145 because of Interstate 85 in 1961).
- South Carolina Highway 86 was used on former South Carolina Highway 85.
- South Carolina Highway 93 was eliminated north of Lancaster, as the section north of Lancaster was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 200 to match North Carolina Highway 200.
- South Carolina Highway 94 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 41 to match North Carolina Highway 41, and South Carolina Highway 94 was used on former South Carolina Highway 41 (the highway was downgraded in 1947).
- South Carolina Highway 95 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 85 to match North Carolina Highway 85.
- South Carolina Highway 96 was renumbered as part of South Carolina Highway 38 to match North Carolina Highway 38.
- South Carolina Highway 98 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 77 to match North Carolina Highway 77 (both sides renumbered to Highway 177 because of Interstate 77 in 1961).
- South Carolina Highway 151 was used on former South Carolina Highway 35 to match North Carolina Highway 151.
- South Carolina Highway 200 was used on the portion of South Carolina Highway 93 from Lancaster to North Carolina to match North Carolina Highway 200.
- South Carolina Highway 274 was used on former South Carolina Highway 58 to match North Carolina Highway 274.
- South Carolina Highway 742 was used on former South Carolina Highway 850 to match North Carolina Highway 742.
- South Carolina Highway 850 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 742 to match North Carolina Highway 742.
1942 renumbering to match Georgia
- South Carolina Highway 7 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 72 to match Georgia State Route 72, and old South Carolina Highway 72 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 722 (which was downgraded in 1947).
- South Carolina Highway 181 and the portion of South Carolina Highway 182 south of Fair Play were renumbered as South Carolina Highway 59 to match Georgia State Route 59, and old South Carolina Highway 59 was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 557.
- South Carolina Highway 81 was truncated to South Carolina Highway 82 at Starr, as the section south of there was renumbered as South Carolina Highway 181 to match Georgia State Route 181; Highway 81 would replace Highway 82 in 1949.
