Maryland Route 114 (MD 114) is a state highway located in Montgomery County in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Watkins Mill Road, the route runs from MD 117 northeast to MD 355 in the city of Gaithersburg. Along the way, the route has an interchange with Interstate 270 (I-270). MD 114 was designated onto this portion of Watkins Mill Road after the state took over the road in 2022.

Route description

MD 114 begins at an intersection with MD 117 in the city of Gaithersburg in Montgomery County, heading north on four-lane divided Watkins Mill Road. The route passes near business parks before coming to a bridge over CSX's Metropolitan Subdivision railroad line. The road heads into a mix of woodland and residential areas, curving to the northeast. MD 114 reaches a diamond interchange with I-270, where it widens to six lanes. The route runs through a mix of residential and commercial areas before reaching its northern terminus at an intersection with MD 355, where Watkins Mill Road continues as a county highway.[1][3]

History

MD 114 was designated onto the portion of Watkins Mill Road between MD 117 and MD 355 in 2022 after the road was transferred to the Maryland State Highway Administration.[2]
