The E25, also known colloquially as Troncal de la Costa, is a national road located in the coastal part of Ecuador that runs through the provinces of Pichincha, Santo Domingo, Los Ríos, Guayas, Azuay, El Oro and Loja.

History

In March 2019, the Ministry of Public Works began repairing several sections of the road connecting Santo Domingo and Buena Fe, adding a culvert to this section as well as general road repairs due to the rainy season.[1]

In early 2022, several sections of the E25 in the south of the province of Guayas, specifically in the sections between Naranjal and Tenguel, were blocked after flooding caused by the change in the course of the Gala River.[2] In March 2022, the Ministry of Public Works earmarked approximately 20 million dollars for the rehabilitation of the E25, specifically the sections between the provinces of Azuay and El Oro.[3]

In early 2024, the road was affected by flooding in the Babahoyo and Jujan section of the Guayas Province.[4]
