PI-105 ( Spanish: Ruta Departamental PI-105 ) is a departmental road that runs through part of the Province of Sullana, connecting the towns of Mallares, Atascadero, Pocitos, La Pananga and La Noria to La Brea in the Province of Talara.[1] According to Ministry of Transportation and Communications estimates published in 2017, PI-105 is estimated to measure approximately 103,052 km, where much of the road extends through the province of Sullana, with about 77% is classified as "trocha", meaning a narrow road of poor quality.[2]

Much of the road is in poor condition due to lack of maintenance as well as low traffic and climatic factors such as the presence of water sources like the "Quebrada Fernandez" making much of PI-105 inaccessible.[3]

In 2021, several local authorities of the District Municipality of Marcavelica requested the urgent intervention of several stretches connecting the localities of Mallares and El Angolo after notable damage due to the weather.[4] In early 2024, the rehabilitation of approximately 8 kilometers of PI-105 in the Mallares area was completed.[5]

Route

The route starts in the province of Piura, specifically in Mallares, from Km 0 to 10, it connects the town of La Noria. From Km 10 to 20, PI-105 connects the town of Cañas. From Km 20 to 35, it connects the town of Pocitos and from 35 to 50, route PI-105 passes through the area of La Pananga.

From Km 50, the road enters the Talara Province and much of this section is in very poor condition until it reaches El Muerto at Km 70. The section from Km 70 to 85, connects El Muerto with Atascadero, from there the PI-105 Route goes to the Province of Sullana, which covers Km 85 to 100 until it reaches the border with the Department of Tumbes, communicating the town of La Brea.
